The Heatherley School of Fine Art
75 Lots Road, London
SW10 0RN
Join Melissa Scott-Miller for a portrait workshop exploring how to portray textures and patterns in a way that enhances the portrait, including some objects to make an interesting composition.
The subject will be in a single pose, wearing clothes with a strong sense of pattern, in a textured and colourful set-up.
Students will be encouraged to focus on detail but in a free way, painting alla prima, in one go or drawing in charcoal or pastels. Your tutor will show you examples by Klimt, Van Gogh's Pere Tanguy portrait, and also Japanese prints.
Colour is the main element in this workshop so there are no limits. The day will conclude with a plenary session.
