In this workshop, the model will be positioned in one pose for the day.
The aim of which is to give students of all abilities the chance to really focus on the model more fully and to further their understanding of the basic formal aspects of drawing such as composition, proportion, line, form, tone, structure and space.Students will be encouraged to work on one drawing or painting. The size depending on whatever medium is used.
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
Jason works directly from observation and from a variety of subject matter, although the still life and the interior has increasingly become his main area of interest. He has exhibited widely in England with a number of commercial galleries as well as in a number of national exhibitions including the BP Portrait Award, National Portrait Gallery, The Royal Society of Portrait Painters, The Discerning Eye and the Lynn Painter- Stainers Prize. He recently had a solo exhibition at MARCH in San Francisco, USA. Awards include The Bowyer Drawing Prize and this year was elected member of the New English Art Club. He works and lives in London.
WHAT TO BRING
Although this is essentially a life drawing class students may paint or use any other preferred medium if they so wish.
Essential materials:
- Paper. Up to A1
- Charcoal of all sizes and thickness
- Pencils of differing grades
- A variety of rubbers; putty and plastic
- Cotton rag
- sketchbooks
Other materials:
- Ink
- Watercolour/gouache
- Pastels/crayon
- Acrylic /oil paint
