Inspired by museum objects: 1-day workshop with Neil Pittaway: Natural History Museum, London

8 February 2025
PRICE: £80 (Concessions available) Natural History Museum, London: 10:30 – 16:00

Draw from a variety of the collection objects at the Natural History Museum.

You will be working with other like-minded people in a supportive environment; you will be taught a variety of drawing skills and techniques by NEAC member Neil Pittaway.

The one-day workshop will start with meeting at the Natural History Museum and consist of short activities and longer, more focused sessions of drawing. There will also be a short tour showing some of the highlights of the museum's collection, and at the end of the day we will view and discuss the work produced and how you can develop this further.

The workshop is aimed to build confidence in how to work in a public environment and will give you opportunities to learn a variety of observational drawing skills and techniques including how to produce quick sketches as well as more sustained complex drawings, looking at inspiring objects from different periods of history.

It is suitable for every level, whether you are a complete beginner, or you have done some drawing before and want to improve your skills. The workshop will include techniques on how to approach observational drawing - including observational perspective, line, tone and shading as well as other drawing techniques.  You will also be taught how to use drawing materials and media. This is a great opportunity to draw in a museum setting with expert tuition.
