Creating a portrait in five stages, from first drawing to finished oil painting with Andrew James.
Over the course of this three day workshop, Andrew will demonstrate his step-by-step approach to painting the portrait from life. He will guide you in compiling a range of works that builds towards a completed oil portrait. Going from line drawing, to tonal study and onto compositional design, we will then move on to oils and make a colour study prior to undertaking the portrait itself.
Via this sequence Andrew will give demonstrations for each stage in order to convey the underlying methods as well as rational for making them.
Throughout the course, you will have ample opportunity to ask questions and receive feedback as Andrew provides individual critiques of your work.
