Sketchbooks, Keeping it Simple: 1-day plein air workshop with Robert E Wells: St Mary the Strand, St Clements, The Law Courts and Temple, London

14 October 2023

A one-day workshop to explore observational sketchbook studies as a basis for later studio paintings.

Robert will begin with a brief talk about his sketchbook process and how it forms an integral part of his studio work.

Starting at the church St Mary the Strand you will sketch at some famous landmarks nearby, including St Clements, The Law Courts and Temple. The primary aim will be to consider ways to simplify images in sketchbook format, and to develop studies to assist your future painting projects.

Robert will be on hand through the day to offer informal advice advice and guidance.

At the end of the workshop everyone will meet up as a group again to share their observations and thoughts about the day.
