Artist Statement
Francis' paintings of Walberswick, Suffolk and interiors of Parisian restaurants, and more recently his atmospheric studies of his studio interior create a lively vibrancy that has enchanted the public and buyers at each exhibition. In 2013 he was invited to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan as a War Artist by the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
Method of Working
Colour and light have always been at the heart of the subjects that Francis is drawn to. Understanding and a familiarity that comes with a subject whether it is landscape, interiors or still life are very important to him. The more a location is understood through drawing and painting, the more possibilities make themselves available to explore visually.
