ARTIST STATEMENT
Sarah Granville is a London-based artist whose work draws on her background in architecture, largely in response to the built world; to light, and colour and form. She is interested in subjects which indicate human intervention in the landscape, often in the form of built structures, urban or otherwise, and particularly those which show the patina of use where the original intention and the layering of time are at play.
METHOD OF WORKING
“Drawing underpins my work, most of which starts plein-air, in sketchbooks.
In the studio I work in oil, gouache and in watercolour. In printmaking I work with sugarlift, spitbite and aquatint etching, and combine traditional and contemporary forms of intaglio and relief print, monotype and collagraph.”
